9:09 p.m. - 2005-01-09 Thanks so much for all your support...those who have commented and/or emailed me. My week was very busy. I have opened at the slowest time in retail...so my store is dead, dead, dead. I hope things pick up soon. I have had a few browsers in my gallery...I had one frame order that was from "outside" (that is, someone I didn't know) and 2 other custom frame orders from people that I know. I've had lots of window shoppers. Right after Christmas is the worst time...no one has money. We did have a woman come in to frame something. She lived in one of the wealthier areas and we made a house call - to a $17,000 square foot house. We showed samples and ordered more samples to bring to her next week. So many people have told me how pretty my store is...it does look pretty and high end. Tomorrow, if I remember, I'll take pictures. I have placed an ad in the paper that ran on Thursday and I was hoping I would get a bit more draw from it...maybe next week as Michaels sale ended Saturday. I have another ad going in this week and also, the paper is supposed to be doing a story on us. They already came and took our picture. I sent a press release earlier today. I've been chatting with one of the Starbucks girls...she's a photographer and I gave her some of my cards and special offer post cards to pass out. I also was accepted into the Kiwanis. Which means that I have to get involved in the community...but meet people in the process. I also met someone at a Chamber of Commerce function who is membership chair of a women's business orgainization...she invited me to an event Tuesday night. The more people I meet, the more I can get my name out there and the better it will be. Plus there are Chamber of Commerce functions too. The Chamber knows I am open and sent out an email to its members too. I also need to contact the mayor's office regarding a ribbon cutting. There are so many things I have to do next week. To make matters worse, I think the post office lost over $22K worth of checks I sent out. I'm a nervous wreck.
