Opening
Ok...I got through my first day.
Customer-wise, there was no one. I could not place an ad or do anything because I did not know I would have my C of O...I got it at the 11th hour.
We have banners, but you cannot see them well outside of the window. We put a special coating on the inside of the windows for UV protection, so we cannot use tape. The contractor still has to put hooks up in the windows so we can hang stuff.
In the meantime, I'm going to buy some of though brightly colored triangle banner thingies and string them up so people who are waiting at the light can see that I am open.
In about 3 weeks, the company will be doing a mailing, but that is 3 weeks from today and I would like people to see that I am there.
I was at the store at 9am and the corporate people came a little later because we had one day of training left...we went through the whole POS system...that is one thing I am a bit more confident in than anything else...partly because I have worked with POS systems and partly because I practiced on it for awhile. The POS system was the bulk of the day.
After everyone left...I tried to organize my office a bit. Since everything was as fucked up as can be, and because we didn't get the C of O til the 11th hour, we really had a mess on our hands. Everything was thrown around haphazardly, and I had to organize it...at least try.
We'll be in tomorrow, since we are open...I'll try to cook up an idea about temporary signage and if I piss people off, I will beg forgiveness later.
One good thing...we have our banner hanging where our Quick Mart sign used to be...so that is good as the name of our store is on the store itself.
Anyone have any idea for some uber fast signage?

Usually, I have to go out every New Years Eve, otherwise I get very
depressed.
We were so tired this year (I didn't eat all day and we stayed at the
store til 8 and then went to Applebee's for a quick meal).
We got home after 10pm and I showered and got into my favorite
pajamas (they have little quarter moons on them that are sleeping),
carshed on my couch and tried to stay awake til the ball dropped.
Charlie had to wake me up...the ball dropped and we went to bed. I
was up early, but laid in bed and dozed til after 12 noon...because I
could.
